2018-2019 Homeschool Plans

Image
I put it off as long as I could this year.  That is totally not like me.  I usually have our next year pretty well planned before the end of the current school year.  This year I have had a horrible case of homeschool burnout.  We only have two weeks left of summer vacation, so I had to pull myself together and get serious about planning for this upcoming year.  I still could not tackle the entire year.  So after many hours in prayer, I planned for our first 6 week term.  We liked following a Sabbath week plan last year, so we are continuing that this year.  We are also going back to a more cooperative learning environment this year. That has worked well for us in the past. So here is what we will be doing for our first 6 weeks. Cooperative Classes 1.  Exercise- we will use Family Time Fitness, our exercise DVD's, and we are going to add in longer walks. 2. Bible- we are starting with "Peaceful Home" by Richelle McFarlin from, talk...

Summer Weeks 8,9,10

We have been enjoying our summer. I don't have a whole lot to report, but I wanted to give a quick update on what we have been up to. Lillian started Taekwondo....she is loving it so far. Savannah went to quilt camp, and made a beautiful quilt! Logan went to Trap Tuesday at the local WMA...he had a great time. We had VBS at church. It was a fun week. I taught a class.  Logan helped run the games on family night, and the girls enjoyed every day.  This was Savannah's last year, I can't believe it! Logan has been volunteering at the library this summer.  He is helping with the summer reading program for little kids.  He is also participating in the summer teen reading club.  He has really enjoyed it. The girls got to participate in a local art class.  They studied impressionism and Monet. They then painted a version of his water lilies. They both really love art! Their finished product was beautiful! ...

Summer Week 7

Logan got a new kitten this week.  He named her Mable. Minerva just did not work out.  So far it seems that Mable will bond with him. She is really sweet. We had a real world chemistry lesson this week. We used well water to fill our pool, it has a lot of iron in it.  So...when we added chlorine it did this... We researched how to clear it up and tried several things.  In a few days it had cleared some and the kids could swim. By the end of the week it was perfectly clear!  I was so happy!!  The rest of the time this week we spent just enjoying being home! We went to music lessons and the library, worked on the chicken pen and a new goat pen, and swam quite a bit.    It was good to be at home!
