Sabbath Week

Image
This was our first Sabbath Week of the 2019/2020 school year.  We had a great week and are recharged! Lots of pictures ahead!! Monday I had to take care of a bunch of correspondence for various organizations we are a part of. Then we wrote letters to our cousins and went to the library.  We still had music that evening. Tuesday was a house organizational day.  We got rid of a ton of stuff. The girls painted a wall in their room. We completely reorganized their room and got rid of the bunk beds and put two single beds in. Wednesday, as part of our having fun in Arkansas theme, we went to a local museum and had a picnic lunch.  The museum was really full of local history, and they didn't mind if we touched the items. I loved the fact that everything in the museum was from near our home. A timeline of a local factory Proof of a world wide flood, fossilized sea shells! Thursday we just stayed home and rela...

Week 6

Image
It has been a long week.  It was one of those weeks where everyone's energy levels were low, no one really wanted to do school, and we are all wanting a break from the scorching temperatures. Thank goodness for air conditioning!! Nevertheless, school happened: History: We discussed Stonehenge in England and American Stonehenge in New Hampshire. We built a circle in the yard using a rope and one person as a center. We set buckets up around the perimeter of the circle to kind of get an idea how one would start a perfect circle building project like Stonehenge. We studied a bit more about Egypt and made mummies while discussing the grotesque methods! We also studied about the Minoans, Crete, and minotaurs. We made our note cards and did our timeline activities as well. Science:  I honestly can not remember what we did in Creation Science, I forgot to write it down.  Lillian worked on the skeletal system this week. Savannah did two chemistry experim...

Week 5

Image
For some reason I had a lot of anxiety this week. I'm not sure why, looking back over the week, it was just a normal week.  But I could feel the anxiety non the less. One thing that was different from years past was the fair.  We have participated in our county fair in some form or fashion for the last 9 years. We decided not to this year.  There were just other things that we wanted to give more attention to this year. I am so glad we did! For one reason, it has been so hot! For another reason, we were really blessed by the opportunities we took in place of fair chaos!! This week in school: History: We set Mystery of History to the side and dug a little deeper into ancient civilizations.  We discussed the Sumerians and Egyptians a little more and did a few Egypt projects. Science: In Creation Science we discussed species names.  We did this quite in depth last year, so we didn't spend a ton of time on it.  Logan and Savannah foun...
