Week 40

Well that's it folks! School is officially over in the Wilson Homeschool World for awhile. We really tried to have school this week, but we just couldn't.  We mostly did two lessons in math and two lessons in language arts and called it for the year. Logan is still working towards earning his last few hours in his woodworking class, and he will also do a few more hours in his metal working class in the future. We are taking the next few weeks off from any formal learning. I am going to be researching drying herbs and working in the garden. I was able to get our first sprigs of lavender this week. In other news: The kids spent the night with their grandparents one night. They had a great time. Lillian finished her pig painting. A storm blew off some nearly ripe mulberries, so we picked them up and ate them. They we so good even though they were not completely ready, I sure hope we will be able to get some ripe ones before the birds eat them all! ...

Week 39

It has been a great week. This week in school: Read Aloud: We read about Peter the Hermit, The Crusades, The Black Knight, and Joan of Arc. Math: Everyone completed three days of review math. English: Everyone completed three days of their English review and did some reading. History: We finished up our study of the Renaissance discussing clothing, art, science, entertainment, and the 100 Year War. Science: We did not get to our chemistry experiments this week, but we have done lots of gardening. Plus our baby chicks arrived! Art: We updated our Fridge Fine Arts for the last time. We also took our last field trip under our "having fun in Arkansas" theme.  We went to the Lum and Abner store and museum. We had a great trip through the mountains to get there.
