Week 16-Thanksgiving Break

Image
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!  We took the entire week off from book learning. However, we still had multiple learning opportunities. Monday and Tuesday our 4H group took a camping trip to the nearby Blackland Prairie WMA. We got to take a wagon tour of the prairie, try our hand at Dutch oven cooking, build survival walking sticks, make our own star chart, go on a night hike, a sunrise hike, go geocaching, participate in 3D archery, go trap shooting.  We had an awesome time. The kids also watched the snake feeding, and got to pet an oppossum. Wednesday we were supposed to go to Little Rock.  However, we changed our mind and rescheduled the appointment.  We spent the day unpacking and I found the kids asleep periodically throughout the day.  We were all so tired from our trip! Thursday we spent Thanksgiving with my parents and helped them with a project they have going. Friday we had a work day at home.  The girls and I clean...

Week 15-A full week

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. Philippians 1:20 KJV That verse was amongst our Bible readings this week and it really stood out to me.  Oh to be as brave as the Christians of Paul's time.  I find it hard sometimes to speak with strangers about my faith....and I am not afraid of the type of hardships thrown upon Christians during the time of the Roman Empire. We only had three days of school this week.  Monday and Friday, Logan had appointments in Hot Springs.  However, we got a lot accomplished while we were home. Bible: In our new Bible study we have met the Philippines, met Paul, and discussed standing firm with other Christian people. Science: We made our new Science folder, and dug out a...

Week 14- Sabbath Week, Or Not

Well we were supposed to be on Sabbath Week this past week, however we decided to not.  We have missed quite a bit of school days for doctor appointments.  So we had not finished all the work we needed to for this past 6 weeks. We did some fun things this week, and we didn't work as hard as normal school weeks, but we finished everything we needed to. Bible: This week in Proverbs People we discussed the simple, scorning, and nabal fools.  We also finished the section on the prudent and wise man.  This finished up Proverbs People. Science- We did not do anything for science this week since we finished this 6 Week's science curriculum a couple of weeks ago. Math- Everyone just kept right on going, completing 1 lesson a day in Saxon Math. Read Aloud- We finished up Indian Captive.  The book got much better after the first 3 or 4 chapters. I'm glad we stuck with it. History- We finished reading Rebecca. It has been a favorite. We also dug out all our ...
