Week 4

Image
Our schedule seems to be working really well this year. So far I haven't needed to change anything up. This week we did have quite a few extra things happen, so we did skip a few things. This week in school: History: We learned about the Sumerians, the tower of Babel, and the Epic of Gilgamesh. The girls made Lego ziggurats.  We did our timeline, but did not do our note cards. We will get them done next week. Science: We learned about animal kinds and did an animal kind scavenger hunt for Creation Science. Lillian learned about different types of cells in our bodies in the human body curriculum.  Savannah attempted two science experiments in her chemistry set, how water expands when frozen worked.  The other one did not work due to faulty supplies in the kit. Logan watched lesson 2 in Biology 101 on life classification. Language Arts: Everyone completed two lessons in their curriculum and did one free writing assignment. Math: Everyone did thre...

Homeschool Week 3

I have to say that I am very pleased so far with all of our curriculum choices this year. One of the really neat things about this year is that all the subjects seem to really go together and follow the same chronological path. We have really enjoyed learning all sorts of things in correlation with a specific time period. I also love that it all teaches biblical truth and how to stand firm in your beliefs (backed by scientific discovery). I feel confident the children will be able to defend their beliefs to a secular scientist or future professor. This week in school: History: We discussed dinosaurs, their creation, lives, and extinction. We discussed Noah and the flood and examined research that confirms. We also learned about the Ice Age and watched a cool video about it.  We did our note cards and timeline figures as well. Science: We discussed what it means exactly to be a creation scientist, learned about the creation model, and discussed the many Christi...

We also traveled through time with Adam and Eve, Enoch, Methuselah, Jubal, and Tubal-Cain.  Logan also did a bit of research on Darwin and evolution. We played music like Jubal. Science- Together we went through the days of Creation and discussed animal kinds and species. Logan did one lesson in his Biology 101.  Lillian did a lesson in her Human body book. We created our own animals and did some self portraits. Lillian read to us every day from Sarah Noble. I read to everyone from Little Lord Fauntelroy everyday. Language Arts: Everyone did two lessons out of each of their books. They also did 1 or 2 free writing exercises. Math- Everyone completed 4 lessons this week in their math books. Logan also completed one lesson in Photography...

Homeschool Year 2019/2020 Week 1

Woohoo! We are back to school.  I'm so glad to have everyone back somewhat on a schedule.  I always try to make our first week as fun as possible. Sunday was church and a Back to School party/game day. After that we went to check out a campground that is near Dad's new job.  We really liked it.  Hopefully we will get to go camping there soon. Monday was our "Not back to school" fun day.  The kids and I went to the movies.  We were the only ones in our theatre! That is one of the really cool things about homeschooling, you get to go places when everyone else is busy! We also went to the library. Monday night was music. Tuesday we worked on getting all our binders made for our subjects.  Lillian started reading aloud to us "The Courage of Sarah Noble." I stared reading aloud "Little Lord Fauntelroy." Everyone also worked on multiplication facts and did a little bit of writing. Wednesday ...
