Week 25- Winter Blues

Image
This week we all kinda felt the winter blues settling in. So, we mixed things up a bit.  I did not take many photos this week, it really seemed like this past week had fewer hours in each day!  I just could not get everything done. Monday was Martin Luther King Jr day, so we took the day off.  We went and had the oil changed and tires balanced and rotated on the surburban.  We picked up medicine and feed.  We also placed an order for our new table top.  Then we went to a friend's house for awhile to visit.  The kids played video games and had multiple Nerf gun wars, us mom's got to visit for a bit. These visits never seem to last long enough! Tuesday we focused on math and language arts. Savannah finished her book in language arts, so she got to pick out her a new course.  She picked All things Fun and Fascinating from IEW. Wednesday morning we spent planning for next year.  I am hoping to get to attend a homeschool convention this y...

Week 24

Winter at the lake This week did not go as planned.  It was frustrating, but it was still a week full of learning. Even though I was frustrated that it didn't go as I planned, I know we accomplished a lot, so I can find joy in that. Monday we were able to get quite a bit of school work done.   We continued on with our new Bible History.  So far we like it, but it is a lot of information.  It takes us a while to get through each chapter.  In science we discussed the power of friction on objects in motion, and we did a friction experiment.  We continued on in math and language arts. Tuesday we did not get much school work done.  Everyone took a test in math.  I did a lot of cleaning and organizing, trying to get cleaned up after the remodeling. Wednesday we had to wait at the store for a shipment.  So, we finished our read aloud, The Girl Who Survived.  Then the kids all worked on their WWII projects. Thursday we did Kitchen C...

Weeks 21, 22, and 23

A recent sunrise It has been a while since I posted a weekly update! Weeks 21 and 22 were our Christmas Break.  It was a good break. We got lots of remodel work done on the kitchen and bathroom.  We are not completely done, but just almost!! We had a wonderful Christmas.  We all love the Christmas season and hated to see Advent come to an end.  We cherish these memories all year! I spent a lot of time sick and trying to heal.  I feel so blessed to have had so many people praying for my recovery.  I love my church family!  Mom and Dad helped out a bunch with the kids, and Shane took me to the doctor, got my medicine, and helped around the house while I was down. I am truly thankful for my family and friends.  The kids were real troupers while I was down too, they are the best kids! I did not get many pictures over the break.  We also did not get to go on our big squirrel and racoon hunt because of me being sick.  I ...

Happy 2019!

I feel like I say this in every post, but can you believe how fast 2018 flew past!  It is seriously like I blinked and the year was over! I always seem to spend most of December sick.  I believe it has to do with my severe allergy to the beautiful cedar tree, because pollen from the cedar is really high in December.  It could also be because of our wonderful weather in Arkansas.  You know below freezing one day, 70 degrees the next.  There is a saying here, if you don't like the weather, hang around 5 minutes and it will change.  It is so true! Especially our winters.  Well the good thing about it is this, I am forced to stay home.  So, I evaluate our school year and see what is working and what is not.  I can put away the old and get out the new books and supplies. I will talk more about the new subjects when we start back to school next week.  I also have spent a lot of time thinking about the upcoming year, things I want to impro...
