Week 25

This past summer I was blessed beyond measure with the opportunity to participate in an online Homeschool Convention.  There are conventions held in lots of places across the nation, but the reality for me is that I can never go. So it was a real blessing to get to listen to so many inspirational homeschool curriculum creators, and mentors, and faith builders.  One of the sessions I chose to listen to was with Dave Stotts.  If you are not familiar with Drive Thru History, I encourage you to look it up and give it a try.  It has always been one of my favorite curriculum choices and now that the children are older it has become one of their favorites.  One of the things I took away from this session with Mr. Stotts was the acronym KEYS.  I am using this information to help my family through this season where we seem completely overwhelmed. "And after these things He went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and He said unto him, follow Me. And he left all, rose up, and followed Him."  Luke 5:27-28 That last part has me thinking this week.  Levi left ALL, stood up, and followed Jesus.  To learn and to do the work of the Lord he left everything he had.  What should that mean for us, today? What do I need to do to better follow Jesus, and better do his work.  Do I have things that get in the way? Do I devote enough time to learning about Jesus? Do I set time apart to do His mighty work? This week was not a typical week.  I would not classify this as a great week in our homeschool.  I'm still feeling overwhelmed about the many items on our weekly list of things to get done.  We did not get much book work done, at all.  We did have some good experiences, and we did learn this week.  Some of what we learned were hard lessons, especially fo...
