Week 16-Thanksgiving

Image
Well we did not get over our sick stomach quickly.  Sunday, Lillian and I were still very sick. So we did not go to church or to my Aunt's thanksgiving meal.  Hopefully we will get to go see everyone soon. Monday we started feeling better.  Dad was home this week, so he helped with Home Ec. Morning.  He and the girls worked at getting the pumpkin used for cooking out of fresh sugar pumpkins.  I helped Logan with a sewing project.  He has been wanting to sew for some time with the machine, but I wasn't sure exactly how that would work since he isn't able to lift or press with his legs much.  Our 4H lady reminded me that some time ago, sewing cabinets would have a knee press instead of a foot pedal.  I got to thinking about trying to attach my pedal to the side of the cabinet...I couldn't come up with a simple way to do that.  I ended up just rearranging the cords and sitting the foot pedal on top of the sewing cabinet.  He used one hand...

Week 15

Sunday was church day.  Logan also had a youth cookout with his after school youth group. Monday we ended up watching another child so we did not have our usual Monday morning Home Economics time.  We just went straight down and got started on school.  We had a busy day of learning!  We started by reading one of our favorite Thanksgiving picture books.  Then we took some time to each write a list of things we are thankful for. Logan assembled pangaea in science.  Monday evening the kids had music. Tuesday morning we had our home economics time.  Logan cleaned and organized his room and then he practiced on his instruments.  The girls and I sewed all morning.  We made more pot holders and then I worked on a gift. After lunch, Logan went hunting with his Papa and the girls went to school and worked on their history lapbooks, we can't seem to keep them caught up!  Tuesday afternoon I had tutoring. Wednesday mornin...

Week 14 Sabbath Week

Image
We were so ready for this Sabbath week! We all really needed a break from the normal!  Monday Savannah made a blueberry pie.  The girls also made their covered wagons we had not yet had time to make.  I worked on finishing unpacking boxes in my room that were still there from when we moved.  Logan rested and played some video games and read a little, it was his turn to not feel good.  All the children finished their coloring contest pages.  Monday evening the children all went to Meme and Papa's for music. Tuesday Lillian made banana bread.  The children went on a mushroom hunt since we studied about mushrooms last week.  I started cleaning out books from our classroom.  I got rid of about 100 books that we have outgrown.  It was kinda sad, those books all had good memories of laughter tied to them.  However, we are growing and changing so I had to make room for the new. Wednesday we started getting things ...
