Summer Weeks 8,9,10

We have been enjoying our summer. I don't have a whole lot to report, but I wanted to give a quick update on what we have been up to.

Lillian started Taekwondo....she is loving it so far.



Savannah went to quilt camp, and made a beautiful quilt!





Logan went to Trap Tuesday at the local WMA...he had a great time.


We had VBS at church. It was a fun week. I taught a class.  Logan helped run the games on family night, and the girls enjoyed every day.  This was Savannah's last year, I can't believe it!



Logan has been volunteering at the library this summer.  He is helping with the summer reading program for little kids.  He is also participating in the summer teen reading club.  He has really enjoyed it.


The girls got to participate in a local art class.  They studied impressionism and Monet. They then painted a version of his water lilies. They both really love art! Their finished product was beautiful!






The goats all got new pens.  We really need to sale some bunnies!




Logan got his braces. 


We have had a very busy summer.  We have continued with our theme of "try something new." It has been a good year.  I can no longer put off planning for the upcoming school year, so that is what I plan on doing next week.  I hope to be able to post our choices for the upcoming school year soon.

Week 4 in Review

I really can't believe it is September!  This was our 4th week in school. We still are not doing every subject every day.  What we typically try to do is one day we do our morning subjects of Meteorology, Bible, Geography, Art, Math, and Language Arts, and then the next day do our afternoon subjects of PE/Health, History, Spelling for Savannah, Reading for Lillian, Logan's Elective, Writing, and Science.  We do this until we are familiar with our new curriculum and are more independent so I can divide my time up where I am most needed. We do this until after fair week. For some reason we are never able to get full days of school in until after fair.  I use to fight this and get all stressed out about not having full days...now we just roll with it.  We still end the year right where we need to be, and we get to enjoy getting started back in school instead of it being stressful. Summer Week 9

I didn't keep day to day records this week, but here are the highlights. We had church on church days. 😊 We celebrated an Adoption of some friends of ours. They make such a lovely family, and we will continue to pray for their growth and bonding. Lillian did a couple of science experiments.  She made a tornado in a bottle and an ocean in a bottle. Dad had help from the kids this week with the barn. They finished enclosing it.  All they lack now is making the doors. Lillian, Buddy, and I went to the park one morning. We picked a theme for our homeschool year.  It is going to be "Having Fun in Arkansas."  We are planning to try and visit quite a few state parks that we have not visited before. Week 26

Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." I know Jesus is always with me.  I know He will never leave me.  I take great comfort in that knowledge.  However I often forget the last part of that verse, to not be afraid.  Even more often, I forget to not be discouraged.  I have found myself discouraged a lot this week, and even some pretty scary events have happened this week, one of which is not my story to tell.  We are struggling.  I pray we all find our footing, and joy again soon. Last Saturday when we went to pick up the kids from Meme and Papa's, Logan had made knickerbocker glory from his Harry Potter cookbook.  It was delicious! He did an amazing job!
