Week 29- Sabbath Week

Image
We had a quiet week.  Nothing much to report.  Our adventure plans were postponed to a later date, there was simply too much rain to get outside this week.  We had a very restful week, and I am hoping we will be ready to get back to the books when Monday rolls around. Monday the kids had a dentist appointment. We did a Bible study, called Believe.  We also watched some Liberty Kids. Tuesday we played Uno Dare and Snappy Dressers.  If you have never played Uno Dare with your children, I highly recommend it.  They laughed so hard at me trying to do all the dares! Wednesday morning Logan finally got his new wheelchair.  It fits him so much better, and it is way more comfortable for him.  We also had a meeting with his new care coordinator.  That afternoon was trap practice, church potluck, and bible study.  I stayed home from the evening activities, I needed a Mom moment. Thursday we just watched it rain and hung around the ho...

Week 28-I believe in love

This has been a relatively quiet week.  Those are good weeks! In school this week: Bible: We finished disc one of The Gospels and started disc two.  You just have to love Dave Stotts and Drive Through History, we laugh so much! Science: My family's love for wildlife is just amazing.  After every episode they are wanting to try and bring that critter home! We have learned about Giant Pandas, wolves, foxes, dolphins, and sharks. (a favorite movie in the house right now is Soul Surfer, so I wasn't sure how the shark episode would go..but they were ready to go swimming with them by the end of it!) History: We finished up our Cooking up History course.  We learned really neat things about John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. We made apple pan dowdy one day.  We will be making homemade mac and cheese and ice cream after grocery shopping. Who doesn't love trying new homemade food! Math: Everyone took several test this week. No one lo...

Week 27- Snails, Puppy Dog Tails, and....Shrimp???

I really want to complain about how cold it has been, and we haven't gotten even a single snow flurry....but I'm not going to.  Every time I think about it, I remember how blessed we are that we are not further north and experiencing those super low temperatures and too much snow and ice! We really have had a great week. On an unseasonably warm day we saw these signs of spring.  As a dear friend says, "It's just around the corner!" I can't believe we only have one more week and we will be finished with our 4th, 6 week term.  Then we will only have 2 more terms to go before summer break. This week in school: Bible:  We finished up our Bible History book.  We started on "The Gospels" by Drive Thru History.  We are big fans of Dave Stotts and his Drive Thru History DVD's.  We haven't watched any that we did not learn a ton and laugh a lot. Science:  We finished up our short introduction study on Physics and our Kitchen Chemistry...

Week 26

We were able to accomplish a lot in school this week!  I'm proud of the kids for how hard they have worked. Monday: We learned about the Waldenses family in Bible History. In science we talked about tire design on vehicles and learned how the different types of tread help on different types of road conditions. Math was just continuing in our lessons, we are half way finished with our curriculum for the year!  We will be looking for a new math curriculum for next year, I'm really sad about this. I hate changing math curriculums.  However, the one we are using has started spiraling to fast for any type of mastery of new concepts. Sigh....we were really liking it, but I truly think we need a mastery approach to math. Especially since math is not anyone's favorite subject in our homeschool. Language Arts was just continuing on in our lessons as well. Logan went to work for his Papa today and the girls and I pulled out a bag of seashells for some science discovery ...
