Weeks 21, 22, and 23

A recent sunrise

It has been a while since I posted a weekly update!

Weeks 21 and 22 were our Christmas Break.  It was a good break.

We got lots of remodel work done on the kitchen and bathroom.  We are not completely done, but just almost!!

We had a wonderful Christmas.  We all love the Christmas season and hated to see Advent come to an end.  We cherish these memories all year!

I spent a lot of time sick and trying to heal.  I feel so blessed to have had so many people praying for my recovery.  I love my church family!  Mom and Dad helped out a bunch with the kids, and Shane took me to the doctor, got my medicine, and helped around the house while I was down. I am truly thankful for my family and friends.  The kids were real troupers while I was down too, they are the best kids!

I did not get many pictures over the break.  We also did not get to go on our big squirrel and racoon hunt because of me being sick.  I feel really bad about that, but there will be other trips in the future.

Savannah has really gotten interested in model building.  She loves to create!  Her dad took her to buy a new kind a model for her to try and they went out to eat, another of her favorite things to do.

Logan did some deer hunting and target practice.

Lillian has been creating story after story lately.  She is having a great time imagining characters and plots.

Week 23 we started back to school.

We started some new curriculum.

We are going to be combining Bible and History.  We will be using the textbook the Great Controversy for this.

In science we will be doing two different things.  We will be doing Kitchen Chemistry and we will be studying force and motion with cars, trucks, trains, and machines.

I do not feel like we spent enough time on WWII before our Christmas break.  So we watched a movie from the Torchlighters series and our read aloud will be The Girl who Survived.  I also assigned Logan a book for a book report and Savannah and Lillian will be doing a project of their choosing on WWII.

Our Math and Language Arts will all stay the same.

This week we spent easing back into school.  We introduced the new subjects, started our read aloud, and worked on Math and Language Arts.  We also added in music during our school time.  Savannah and Lillian will be working on their piano and Logan will be learning new songs on his mandolin and violin.

Other events this week:

Monday Lillian started back to Taekwondo.  Logan was not feeling well so he did not go to music.

Tuesday we stayed home and worked on the remodel.

Wednesday the girls went to kids club and Logan had a doctor's appointment.

Thursday we stayed home and the kids prepared our supper for their kitchen chemistry assignment.  Logan made oven fried fish and chips.  Savannah made a strawberry cake with strawberry icing from scratch.  Lillian made homemade ice cream.  They all did a wonderful job!  It was a delicious meal!

Friday Logan had an appointment in Hot Springs.  Meme went with us to help out and we did some shopping while we were in the city. I was finally feeling almost completely back to normal by Friday evening.

Hope you all have had a great week and stay well during these dreary days!
