Week 4

Our schedule seems to be working really well this year. So far I haven't needed to change anything up. This week we did have quite a few extra things happen, so we did skip a few things.

This week in school:

History: We learned about the Sumerians, the tower of Babel, and the Epic of Gilgamesh. The girls made Lego ziggurats.  We did our timeline, but did not do our note cards. We will get them done next week.

Science: We learned about animal kinds and did an animal kind scavenger hunt for Creation Science. Lillian learned about different types of cells in our bodies in the human body curriculum.  Savannah attempted two science experiments in her chemistry set, how water expands when frozen worked.  The other one did not work due to faulty supplies in the kit. Logan watched lesson 2 in Biology 101 on life classification.

Language Arts: Everyone completed two lessons in their curriculum and did one free writing assignment.

Math: Everyone did three lessons and Logan took his first test of the year.

Reading: We spent some time at the library this week getting new books for everyone.  Here is a look at what they will be reading for the next month.

Logan's books

Savannah's books

Lillian's books

Read Aloud: I started reading "The Time Traveler's Gift" by Andy Andrews for our daytime read aloud.  I am still reading "School in the Parlor" outloud before bed to everyone each night.

Homeschool co-op classes: This week we got to choose our co-op classes!  This year Lillian will be attending Under the Sea and Fall into crafts.  Savannah will be attending Rockin' with Rocks and God's Beautiful Girls.  Logan will be attending Storm Chasers and Debate. I'll be hosting parent hour this fall! It's going to be a fun co-op!

That wraps up our school week.  In other happenings:

Monday the kids all had dentist appointments. They were really busy, and we were there a long time. We also had to go to the pharmacy to pick up meds. Since we got home pretty late we did not go to music.

Tuesday I had to take Savannah back to the dentist to have some work done. Logan stayed home and worked on school assignments and rested, he wasn't feeling great.

Wednesday Lillian stepped on a red wasp and it stung her of course.  So she couldn't walk, so we didn't go to potluck and bible study.  A friend of ours had a family emergency and brought her kids to us while she went where she needed to go.  We loved having our friends spend the night.

Thursday we had our friends over still after everyone finished with school.  They stayed until about 10.  The played games and watched a movie. We had a blast having them over.

Friday night was Family Game Night. We played Rumikub. It was a new game for the kids, so we took it slow.  After a rough start due to tiredness and crankiness from a long week, we had fun and enjoyed learning a new game.

Saturday morning Savannah and I worked on yard work until lunchtime. Logan, Lillian, and Dad worked on gathering stuff up to work on the barn. After lunch, Papa came over to help Dad on the barn.  The girls and I worked on cutting out patterns for some sewing projects.  Logan helped the men until it got really hot, then he came in to play video games. Saturday is the only day video games are allowed in our home.

Lillian's Raggedy Ann doll

Savannah's rabbit doll

It was an extremely busy week, but a good week.  I'm definitely ready for cooler temps, but I'm probably in for a long wait for that! 😏
