Week 13

This week we got in a lot of learning.  We were extremely busy, but we had a great week.

Monday morning we had our Home Economics time, we worked on some extra cleaning and getting the house in order from the busy weekend.  We then had some agri science time, we worked on rabbit cages and planned on where to move the goats to next.  Monday afternoon was a day we could not get everything in.  We had to miss one 4H meeting in order to get some other fun things accomplished.  We held an archery shoot for some homeschool friends at our house! Everyone had a good time and we plan on doing it again.  Shane and I then had to go to a 4H meeting for group leaders.

Tuesday we had a busy morning in school with our Reformation study, math, language, and some dyslexia therapy.  We then had lunch and some recess.  For afternoon school we did our nature study from last Friday on pumpkins.  We studied the seeds, meet, and how they grow. Then we used points of a drill to make patterns or pictures on them.  After we finished with our pumpkins we worked on costumes. A friend of mine decided to hold a Reformation Party in honor of the 500th year since Martin Luther posted his thesis. So we dressed up like nobleman and ladies from that time period and headed to her house.  We watched a couple of short films about Martin Luther while we ate, then we played some games.  We all had a blast!  Minerva is officially housebroken and out loose in the house.  I had forgotten how silly kittens can be!

Wednesday morning we got right to school and worked hard all morning.  We needed to play a little bit of catch up in a few areas.  We worked on all our morning subjects and a few afternoon subjects before taking a lunch break.  After lunch we had recess and then we loaded up to run a few errands.  A couple of libraries in our area are having book sales right now, so we stopped by and had a look at both of them.  I found quite a few good books to add to our collection for only 10 cents each!  Then we went to kid's club, youth and then to our church to work on Christmas float and play ideas.
Thursday we were up with the sun and off to Little Rock again.  Our first stop was to the Arkansas Arts Center to see a live action play, the musical "Goosebumps."  I have to say it was probably one of the better plays we have seen.  We love theater, so we try to go to a few plays each year.  "Goosebumps" was well done.  We all enjoyed it greatly.  We can't take pictures during the play, but I did get a picture of the set.  We then headed to the hospital for tests and appointments.  God answered many prayers this day.  Awhile back we were told Logan needed a major surgery.  Tests were bad, outlook was gray, we really needed this major surgery.  Logan would be down for 6 weeks to 3 months and the surgery could case some nerve damage.  Well today, all his tests came back way better than before! So good in fact, that surgery is off the table for this next entire year!!  Praise God Almighty! I know we had many dear people praying for Logan, and I am so humbled and thankful for their prayers and for God's answer to these prayers!  After finishing with the hospital we went to the Arkansas River where we got to see a full size replica of the ships "The Nina, and The Pinta" that Christopher Columbus sailed to the new land.  I was so surprised at how small the ships were, I did not think they were nearly big enough to be sea worthy!  It was really neat to get to see these ships in person.  We did not tour the boats, we were way behind schedule for the day and Lillian was not feeling great.  We left there and went to get Logan fitted for a new brace.

Friday we worked on our Nature Study.  We talked about fungus and mushrooms.  We then worked on art, the kids have entered a coloring contest at the library.
Saturday we woke up to baby bunnies! We were so not expecting them yet!  We moved the daddy bunny to his own pen and watched the bunnies for awhile. I told Savannah not to get her hopes up that they will all live, this is the momma bunny's first litter.  Hopefully it will all be ok though!  After we got the bunnies settled in we went to my parent's house for a family shoot out.  Some of my family came up from Texas and we had a .22 competition.  We always have a good time together.  This was Savannah's first year to compete.  Logan tied with a few others for the "most bulls eyes" award, and Savannah received the "last loser" award.

This wraps up our 2nd 6 weeks of school. Next week will be our Sabbath Week, and we are so ready for a break!  We have had a lot of fun this 6 weeks and lots of new experiences! Hope you all had a very blessed week!
