The Good and The Beautiful

November is the month to share things one is thankful for, so I wanted to share with you all today a curriculum choice that I am very thankful for.  I stumbled upon this curriculum, I'm not even sure how I found it, but I am certainly glad that I did.
It is called "The Good and The Beautiful," by Jenny Phillips.  I'll tell you a little bit of why I was searching so hard for a curriculum.  I was looking for a Language Arts program that would be a good fit for my daughter Savannah.  Savannah does not like workbooks, or worksheets.  She does not like dvd curriculum, or any type of video curriculum.  She gets easily distracted.  If a curriculum does not have anything to keep her engaged, she quickly becomes board with it.  Savannah is exceptionally bright, and likes to be challenged just a bit.  "The Good and The Beautiful" Language Arts Curriculum has been a perfect fit for her.  When I stumbled upon it and was initially reading about it I saw that the first 5 levels are free as a PDF download.  I remember thinking to myself, "Well this probably isn't what I am looking for."  However, since it was free I decided to go ahead and download it.  Boy was I surprised!  The free curriculum is a full curriculum, it included every thing I needed. We did not have to purchase anything else.  Here are the subject areas covered in the language arts curriculum.

Subjects Covered
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Spelling
  • Grammar and Punctuation
  • Literature
  • Art
  • Vocabulary
  • Geography
So you can see that it is so much more than just Language Arts.  Savannah has done very well with this curriculum.  It keeps her attention, and it helps her to feel like she is accomplishing something.

I also ordered Level 2 of the Language Arts Curriculum for my youngest daughter, since she has a dyslexia, it was not a good fit for her because it is an advanced curriculum.  However, I simply went back to the website and ordered her Level 1 and it has been working quite nicely.  Remember, the first 5 levels are free!  I recommend downloading the samples and trying it with your student before you make your choice, the files are large!

While I was on the website I noticed that they offered other subjects.  I had also been looking for a science unit study on weather.  That apparently isn't an area of science that is studied by itself very often.  So, I thought I would look and see if by chance they offered one, they did!  It has been perfect!  Very informative, yet very easy to use and understand! Plus, it was reasonably priced!
I am very thankful for Jenny Phillips curriculum!  We have enjoyed it so much this year and we will keep using curriculum from her in the future!  If you are interested in looking at her curriculum for sale you can follow this link.

Also, they offer a great book list if you are looking for great literature for your students.

Check it out, you will not regret it!
