Week 13- It's Fall Ya'll!
The leaves started changing this week!
The weather has been perfect all week!
These pictures were taken early in the week, by the end of the week the foliage was even more beautiful!
Bible- This week in Proverbs People we started the section on "The five fools." We learned about the self confident fool and the stubborn fool. I'm really liking the modern day example stories at the end of each section.
Science- Our science this week went with our history. We talked about inventions that were made during World War I that we still use today. The inventions were; the trench coat, blood banks, Kleenex, Pilates exercises, Daylight Savings time, zippers, stainless steel, and wristwatches.
Math- Everyone just worked on through their individual lessons. We did start just doing the odd number problems on the "homework" part. They are all doing really well in math this year. This is such a blessing!! We also did some fun projects with the Chinese Tangram puzzles.
History- The girls and I read more in our American Girl Rebecca story. We talked about social classes, immigration, show biz, and WWI. Logan started book 2 in his From Adam to us History.
Language Arts- Logan and Lillian both started new language arts curriculum this week. Savannah is still writing her story in her Creative Writing made Easy curriculum. If she doesn't finish it up this next week, this will move to an extracurricular project so she can move on.
Art- This week we had our Drawing with Ruth co-op class. Ruth took the older kids and they chose pictures from magazines to try and recreate. They drew in pencil and then painted with water colors. I took the younger kids and we did a watercolor resist painting. We drew turkeys and backgrounds with crayons and painted with watercolors. We had lots of fun!
Other happenings this week:
Sunday the kids had play practice before evening church.
Monday I found the exact puppy Savannah has been asking for (every year for Christmas for the last three years) really affordable. So I asked her if she was sure that's what she wanted for Christmas and if she was ok getting her big present early. She said yes, and then Lillian decided she really wanted one too. So we took a long road trip to get puppies. It was after midnight before we got home!
Tuesday Logan had another appointment in Little Rock. Meme went with us and bought us passes to the zoo!!
The carousel opperator serenaded us with a Tauren Wells song! It's always a blessing to see others praising God!
Wednesday both trap practice and play practice were cancelled. I started feeling bad, so we stayed home from church.
Thursday the puppies had a vet visit to get a health check up and shots. I found a really good deal on a bathtub, so we made a flying trip to pick it up. (getting ready for a bathroom renovation) Shane took Lillian to Taekwondo. I was feeling pretty bad Thursday evening. I think it's just my normal change of weather sinus/allergy issues.
Friday was archery practice.
Saturday Logan went hunting. We also did lots of rearranging furniture and downsizing "stuff.". We still have a ways to go, the house is kinda in that stage of looking worse before getting better. But once we sell or give some things away it should be lots better.
Our week was packed full. I'm so thankful that I am able to have such fun filled days with my children! Sometimes I doubt our decision to Homeschool, but weeks like this week I would not trade for anything. I am truly blessed by these three wonderful gifts from God.
Psalms 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is His reward.
