Summer Week 1

It's summer time!!

Sunday we went to church.


Monday was Memorial Day.  We talked about it's meaning.  We went and worked at the farm with Meme and Papa, then we had a cookout. The girls spent the night.

Tuesday and Wednesday we traveled with Logan to various doctor appointments for check ups.

Thursday we stayed home and got caught up on house and yard work.

Friday, Lillian and I ran errands and she had a dentist appointment early. Dad worked at the farm with Papa.  That afternoon, I finally finished the bathroom remodel. All the trim is stained and the new curtains are made and hung. Dad worked in the yard and barn trying to get things organized again.

The guys are gone to a Men's Breakfast at church this morning.  Today's plan for me is getting some sewing projects done.  Dad is going to work outside again.

The kids have had the week off.  So other than when they were helping us, or at an appointment, there has been lots of TV, video games, and swimming.  Logan camped out in the camper a couple of nights. Next week starts our summer schedule!

Week 4 in Review

I really can't believe it is September!  This was our 4th week in school. We still are not doing every subject every day.  What we typically try to do is one day we do our morning subjects of Meteorology, Bible, Geography, Art, Math, and Language Arts, and then the next day do our afternoon subjects of PE/Health, History, Spelling for Savannah, Reading for Lillian, Logan's Elective, Writing, and Science.  We do this until we are familiar with our new curriculum and are more independent so I can divide my time up where I am most needed. We do this until after fair week. For some reason we are never able to get full days of school in until after fair.  I use to fight this and get all stressed out about not having full days...now we just roll with it.  We still end the year right where we need to be, and we get to enjoy getting started back in school instead of it being stressful. Summer Week 9

I didn't keep day to day records this week, but here are the highlights. We had church on church days. 😊 We celebrated an Adoption of some friends of ours. They make such a lovely family, and we will continue to pray for their growth and bonding. Lillian did a couple of science experiments.  She made a tornado in a bottle and an ocean in a bottle. Dad had help from the kids this week with the barn. They finished enclosing it.  All they lack now is making the doors. Lillian, Buddy, and I went to the park one morning. We picked a theme for our homeschool year.  It is going to be "Having Fun in Arkansas."  We are planning to try and visit quite a few state parks that we have not visited before. Week 26

Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." I know Jesus is always with me.  I know He will never leave me.  I take great comfort in that knowledge.  However I often forget the last part of that verse, to not be afraid.  Even more often, I forget to not be discouraged.  I have found myself discouraged a lot this week, and even some pretty scary events have happened this week, one of which is not my story to tell.  We are struggling.  I pray we all find our footing, and joy again soon. Last Saturday when we went to pick up the kids from Meme and Papa's, Logan had made knickerbocker glory from his Harry Potter cookbook.  It was delicious! He did an amazing job!
