Week 5-Holiday, Fair, School, and Tournament
This week was packed full! I still haven't caught my breath!
This week we had one day off from school for Labor Day, then we had 4 half days of school.
In our Bible study this week we walked with Susan, Edmund, and Peter. She brought up some very interesting thoughts about each of these characters.
In science we talked about the following women inventors: Amanda Jones, Harriet Tubman, Mary Phelps Jacob, and Marie Curie. We also had a day off flying science projects.
Math was Saxon math. Each child did three lessons this week and Saxon seems to be a good fit for them.
In our read aloud we finished Mr. Bowditch. We all really enjoyed this book. We finished the literature study that went along with the book also.
In History the girls learned about the great San Francisco earthquake, made apple pie, homemade applesauce, and we read more in our American Girl Meet Samantha book. Logan did two more lessons in From Adam to Us. I think he likes this history ok, but he does miss doing the projects with us.
In Language Arts everyone just continued their lessons. I also assigned them each a book to do a book report on next week.
We were able to fit in some swimming and some walking for PE this week!
Other things that went on this week:
Monday we set up two fair booths, had a fish fry with Meme and Papa, got all our items ready for the fair, and Lillian had Taekwondo.
Tuesday we took everything to the fair to be entered in. It took us three hours...there has to be a better way! We also had to stop by the 4H office to take care of some group stuff.
Wednesday after Dad got home we went to the fair to see how the kids did. They did an awesome job! Lots of ribbons! Here are a few of their items.
Friday Logan and Savannah had music lessons. Then they went to Meme and Papa's to spend the night.
Saturday they all went to trade days. Dad, Lillian and I went to Little Rock for Lillian's very first Taekwondo tournament. She was awesome! I'm so proud of her. She was so nervous, but you could really tell all her practice paid off! She won first place in both of her competitions!
We are all exhausted! Next week is our last week before our Sabbath break. We are so ready for a break!
