Week 35-Homeschooling on the go
As you've noticed in our last few posts, we have been on the go quite a bit throughout all of March. Learning has still taken place though, that is one of the things that I love about homeschooling.
No matter where we are, or what we are doing, we are still learning. It can be how to figure a gratuity, how to read a map or use a GPS device, learn historical facts about a city or state, how to budget money for an adventure, the list could go on and on.
This week was another week of travel and adventure for us. We did not get to go to all the places we had planned, but we still did a lot!
In school this week:
Bible: We started our new Bible study. It is called A Content Heart. So far we are really liking it. We are looking deeper into some well loved Bible stories, and we are doing some deep self evaluation. Something we all were needing to do, especially me!
Math: We all worked on multiplication facts this week. It is a review for the oldest two, and new material for Lillian. I have ordered a new math for us, but it hasn't come in yet.
History: We found this really neat timeline book on the clearance isle at Books A Million on one of our recent adventures for only $3. It is an awesome resource for studying the space race. I was so relieved and excited when we found it because I hadn't been able to find much on the space race.
Science: We dug into our Kingdoms and Classification curriculum after a break from it. We did a quick review and then got into learning about and using a microscope. This has been one of our favorite science curriculum choices.
Language Arts: This week we wrote a letter to our new pen pal Laura. Then everyone worked in their own curriculum.
Art: This week we each drew a picture to send to our pen pal. The girls and I also did a painting of a flower vase. I think they turned out pretty good!
In other happenings:
Sunday evening we headed out on another adventure. Dad had to take a group of kids to Little Rock for a convention. He needed me to come as a female chaperone for the nights at the hotel. During the day our kids and I had a little fun. The first evening we just hung around the hotel, ordered room service and watched TV. The rest of the days we were there we went to the zoo and out to the movies to see Captain Marvel. Logan also had an appointment and got his new prosthetic and AFO brace. We got home Tuesday night.
Friday Logan and Savannah had a trap tournament and Shane and I went to a 4H event that evening.
Other than one local doctors visit, we don't have to go anywhere next week. We are going to wait and see how we feel to make some choices about what we might want to do. Our bodies are all feeling the toll of traveling too much and not making the best food choices while traveling!
One of the neat things about our new home is that Dad's grandma and great grandma both loved flowers. So the more land we clear up, the more flowers come back. Spring is in full bloom around here, so I've posted some pictures of some of the flowers throughout this post. I don't know how many of these were planted or how many are wild, but they are all beautiful.
