Week 36-Turtles, Clover, and things that go caput

Logan found a 4 leaf clover!!

This has been a week of dropsies, tongue tiedness, and accidental messes! We also had three appliances go caput. However, we were still able to laugh it all off and get some much needed rest!  We were also very blessed to be able to replace the appliances.

We had to stop and watch a snapping turtle cross the road.

In school this week:

Bible: We took a close look at world hunger, talked about the difference between happiness and joy, discussed a thankful heart, and we also did a lesson on being content with our appearance.

Science: We did a Vienn diagram on prokaryote and eurokote cells.  We studied archaebacteria and eubacteria. Lillian and I made agar plates one evening and then the next day everyone gathered some bacteria to see if we can grow some different types of bacteria.

History: Continuing on in the space race study each child picked out two model rockets they are going to be working on over the next few weeks of school.  This project will end our history for the year!  We studied the pioneers in rocketry, then we watched the movie "October Sky" about the life of Herbert Hickman Jr.  Each child drew a rocket design. Ending out the week with discussing the Apollo Missions and talking about the Space Race today.  I showed them news articles about Israel's recent mission to the moon, the Mars rovers, NASA's twin experiment, and the civilian space travel industry.  We had a lot of fun this week in history!

Math: We got our new math curriculum in, so we started it this week.

Language Arts: Everyone just continued on. ๐Ÿ˜€

Our last American Girl read aloud!

Friday I helped Lillian get her tri-fold board ready for the upcoming reading fair.  My kids are all growing up! She did all the work on her own, I just helped her find supplies and be there if she had questions. She did an awesome job!

In other happenings this week:

Logan and I each had a doctor's appointment.  There was trap practice.  We bought new appliances and my husband installed them all for me. He also installed a new light for me over our table.  Lillian and I went to a baby shower.  The girls did some cooking for me when I wasn't feeling well.  Savannah also completed her 3D Crystal puzzle! One evening we started an audiobook called "Under Drake's Flag."

All in all it was a great week, with lots of reminders of our blessings.  I've noticed Logan is getting good at staying out of photos, I'll have to work on catching him more! ๐Ÿ˜‹
