Week 30

The first half of the week the kids were sick. Savannah had to go to the doctor, and I had a doctor's appointment also. Logan and Lillian both had to take meds for a couple of days.

So, my notes for this week are not that great. Here is what I know we got done in school for the week.

Savannah and Logan both did one day of lessons from their Easy Peasy Homeschool Curriculum.  Everyone finished two lessons in math.

We started reading "Jessie Fremont."

The kids are listening to the audio book "The Pilgrim's Progress."

We officially finished disk one of "King of Glory."

We started "Drive thru History:Greece." We learned about their advances in math, science, theology, philosophy, and architecture. We also learned about the Oracle at Delphi and Alexander the Great.


Lillian finished her science project on animal homes.


Lillian also did some art. She is becoming quite the artist.

In extracurricular activities this week:



We went to the park for some exercise.

We went to the library one day.




We had trap practice.


Dad even began teaching Lillian to shoot trap today.


The week ended with some wonderful spring time weather.

Week 4 in Review

I really can't believe it is September!  This was our 4th week in school. We still are not doing every subject every day.  What we typically try to do is one day we do our morning subjects of Meteorology, Bible, Geography, Art, Math, and Language Arts, and then the next day do our afternoon subjects of PE/Health, History, Spelling for Savannah, Reading for Lillian, Logan's Elective, Writing, and Science.  We do this until we are familiar with our new curriculum and are more independent so I can divide my time up where I am most needed. We do this until after fair week. For some reason we are never able to get full days of school in until after fair.  I use to fight this and get all stressed out about not having full days...now we just roll with it.  We still end the year right where we need to be, and we get to enjoy getting started back in school instead of it being stressful. Summer Week 9

I didn't keep day to day records this week, but here are the highlights. We had church on church days. 😊 We celebrated an Adoption of some friends of ours. They make such a lovely family, and we will continue to pray for their growth and bonding. Lillian did a couple of science experiments.  She made a tornado in a bottle and an ocean in a bottle. Dad had help from the kids this week with the barn. They finished enclosing it.  All they lack now is making the doors. Lillian, Buddy, and I went to the park one morning. We picked a theme for our homeschool year.  It is going to be "Having Fun in Arkansas."  We are planning to try and visit quite a few state parks that we have not visited before. Week 26

Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." I know Jesus is always with me.  I know He will never leave me.  I take great comfort in that knowledge.  However I often forget the last part of that verse, to not be afraid.  Even more often, I forget to not be discouraged.  I have found myself discouraged a lot this week, and even some pretty scary events have happened this week, one of which is not my story to tell.  We are struggling.  I pray we all find our footing, and joy again soon. Last Saturday when we went to pick up the kids from Meme and Papa's, Logan had made knickerbocker glory from his Harry Potter cookbook.  It was delicious! He did an amazing job!
