Week 36-Fast and Furious Sabbath Week

This was probably the craziest Sabbath Week we have had.  It was a pretty good week though. We played, tried new things, rested, and learned.

Sunday we spent the day packing and driving. We tagged along with Dad on a work trip. We didn't get started when we wanted too, so we got to the hotel late and then had to go find a reasonably priced place for supper. Traveling with a bunch of teenagers took a little while for me to adapt too!

Monday after we got everyone off to their destinations, the kids and I headed out to the zoo. They had changed several things since the last time we were there.  It started off pretty cold, but warmed up as the day went on. We got to see every exhibit, that's a first! Most of the animals were out and we had the zoo pretty much to ourselves! Monday night we stayed at the hotel and ordered room service!! That was also a first for me!  It was cheaper than going out or eating at the hotel restaurant.  This year has been all about trying new things!!😏

Tuesday we got up and checked out of the hotel.  We got everyone off to their final events, then the kids and I went to the mall to wait for them to finish.  We were in the mall a long time! We had a good time though. We got home really late and crashed.


Wednesday we spent the whole day planting in our raised bed gardens.  I didn't get a single photo, my hands were a little dirty.🌱 It was so good for our souls to be out working in the garden after so much big city!

Thursday we spent most of the day doing yard work.  The kids piled brush while I mowed. Logan had trap practice in the afternoon.

Friday we took Logan to therapy. We all went to the library.  We stopped by Walmart to grab a few things.  We were just about to head to archery practice, but it got cancelled due to possible tornados. Which in fact a tornado did touch down not far from the school late Friday evening!!

Saturday I went and helped Meme.  My horse had run through the fence sometime during the night of bad weather.  She's got some pretty good gashes, but it could have been a lot worse. We then went to watch Logan at a trap tournament, it was so cold!!! We spent the afternoon getting the animals and garden ready for winter like temperatures again tonight. I also finally got around to unpacking. 😎

In other news, our baby chicks are doing great.  They are getting white feathers on their wings, they are supposed to be red chickens. So, we are a little confused by this.


I am working on reading through two new books dad brought home for me.  I have always liked DK books, these are quickly becoming two favorites. I'm learning alot!

I really can't believe it is September!  This was our 4th week in school. We still are not doing every subject every day.  What we typically try to do is one day we do our morning subjects of Meteorology, Bible, Geography, Art, Math, and Language Arts, and then the next day do our afternoon subjects of PE/Health, History, Spelling for Savannah, Reading for Lillian, Logan's Elective, Writing, and Science.  We do this until we are familiar with our new curriculum and are more independent so I can divide my time up where I am most needed. We do this until after fair week. For some reason we are never able to get full days of school in until after fair.  I use to fight this and get all stressed out about not having full days...now we just roll with it.  We still end the year right where we need to be, and we get to enjoy getting started back in school instead of it being stressful. Summer Week 9

I didn't keep day to day records this week, but here are the highlights. We had church on church days. 😊 We celebrated an Adoption of some friends of ours. They make such a lovely family, and we will continue to pray for their growth and bonding. Lillian did a couple of science experiments.  She made a tornado in a bottle and an ocean in a bottle. Dad had help from the kids this week with the barn. They finished enclosing it.  All they lack now is making the doors. Lillian, Buddy, and I went to the park one morning. We picked a theme for our homeschool year.  It is going to be "Having Fun in Arkansas."  We are planning to try and visit quite a few state parks that we have not visited before. Week 26

Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." I know Jesus is always with me.  I know He will never leave me.  I take great comfort in that knowledge.  However I often forget the last part of that verse, to not be afraid.  Even more often, I forget to not be discouraged.  I have found myself discouraged a lot this week, and even some pretty scary events have happened this week, one of which is not my story to tell.  We are struggling.  I pray we all find our footing, and joy again soon. Last Saturday when we went to pick up the kids from Meme and Papa's, Logan had made knickerbocker glory from his Harry Potter cookbook.  It was delicious! He did an amazing job!
