Summer Week 1

Summer is finally here!  I have not fully decided what to do with our blog over the summer.  I know I will not do a day to day recap each week, mainly because the days always seem to run together during the summer months for me.  But I do want to continue to post about the highlights of our weeks for journalling purposes.

This week was mainly a sewing week.  Lillian made a beautiful skirt to wear to her piano recital along with a matching purse, and to enter in the fair.  Savannah made a beautiful dress to also wear to piano recital and for her upcoming district competition. Logan started on a bag for his wheelchair and he also started another leather working project.








Logan had a strange encounter with a bird at therapy.  It actually landed on him as he was walking! His theapist tried to get a picture, but it of course flew off as he was taking it.


Music recital was this week.  The girls played beautifully on the piano and Logan played beautifully on his mandolin and violin.






We also had a 4H meeting.

Week 4 in Review

I really can't believe it is September!  This was our 4th week in school. We still are not doing every subject every day.  What we typically try to do is one day we do our morning subjects of Meteorology, Bible, Geography, Art, Math, and Language Arts, and then the next day do our afternoon subjects of PE/Health, History, Spelling for Savannah, Reading for Lillian, Logan's Elective, Writing, and Science.  We do this until we are familiar with our new curriculum and are more independent so I can divide my time up where I am most needed. We do this until after fair week. For some reason we are never able to get full days of school in until after fair.  I use to fight this and get all stressed out about not having full days...now we just roll with it.  We still end the year right where we need to be, and we get to enjoy getting started back in school instead of it being stressful. Summer Week 9

I didn't keep day to day records this week, but here are the highlights. We had church on church days. 😊 We celebrated an Adoption of some friends of ours. They make such a lovely family, and we will continue to pray for their growth and bonding. Lillian did a couple of science experiments.  She made a tornado in a bottle and an ocean in a bottle. Dad had help from the kids this week with the barn. They finished enclosing it.  All they lack now is making the doors. Lillian, Buddy, and I went to the park one morning. We picked a theme for our homeschool year.  It is going to be "Having Fun in Arkansas."  We are planning to try and visit quite a few state parks that we have not visited before. Week 26

Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." I know Jesus is always with me.  I know He will never leave me.  I take great comfort in that knowledge.  However I often forget the last part of that verse, to not be afraid.  Even more often, I forget to not be discouraged.  I have found myself discouraged a lot this week, and even some pretty scary events have happened this week, one of which is not my story to tell.  We are struggling.  I pray we all find our footing, and joy again soon. Last Saturday when we went to pick up the kids from Meme and Papa's, Logan had made knickerbocker glory from his Harry Potter cookbook.  It was delicious! He did an amazing job!
