Week 2-ups and downs

This week had some tough spots. We made it through both the highs and the lows though!

Monday and Tuesday were hard school days. We have learned that we have to make better choices through the day to be able to enjoy our free time.  We have also realized that our time is precious.  There are not any activities we want to stop, therefore we have to choose to use our time wisely.

This week we finished our Bible study called "Peaceful Home" and I have used the 3 keys to obedience as a gentle reminder through the week. Now I just have them tell me the three keys, immediately, completely, joyfully, when they are not obeying and it solves the problem. No more frustration, emotionalism, or raising of voices. God is good.  We also read the beginning part of "Walking through the Wardrobe." Guys it sounds amazing, we are looking forward to starting it next week.

In math each child did a couple of lessons in their Saxon math and worked several pages in their Minecraft math workbooks.

In science each child used note booking pages to research an invention and then use their information to teach the rest of us about the inventions.  Logan researched and reported on air conditioning and ball point pens.  Savannah taught us about the assembly line and Bakelite.  Lillian researched the anemometer and baseball.  We also started a new book on inventors.

In our read aloud and book study time we are all loving, "Carry on, Mr. Bowditch." We have a hard time stopping when we need to stop.  We are all praying for Nat and helping him sell by ash breeze the best we can! We left off when he lost his anchor and we are really anxious to continue the story next week.

In Language arts everyone worked on their own curriculum and got through several lessons this week.

History is where we fell short this week.  We had several days that we had to be out of the house so we didn't get as much done as I would have liked.  Logan did one lesson in his History.  The girls and I started on our book and completed one project day, airplanes and dragon flies.

Exercise or PE- a complete mom fail this week.  I did not lead the kids in a single exercise session all week.  Sigh... Maybe next week

Some other things that happened this week...

An old style airplane flew over the house which I thought was neat since we are studying about the Wright brothers.

Lillian had Taekwondo.

Logan had a doctor's appointment.
Lillian had a doctor's appointment.
All three children had dentist appointments.

We went to a bigger city to do some clothes shopping.

Both music days ended up being cancelled.

Church services, and a birthday party for someone very dear to us.

Friday morning we had a Homeschool Group fun day.  We visited with friends and I didn't get a single picture.

Saturday morning we had a 4H Sharp Shooters meeting.

I also gave haircuts one afternoon and tried to learn more about the camera settings on my phone.

Now I know why I'm so tired this afternoon! That made me tired all over again just typing it all out!!  God bless us all that have full days, remind us to be joyful in our mission field and in doing our part to raise workers for Jesus!

Now I'm off to figure out a menu for next week and go get groceries.
