Week 3- Switching things around

You would think that for as many years as I have been Homeschooling I would have a good schedule figured out by now. Alas, I still have to work with our subjects each year to find a good fit for us.  I guess because we grow and change, so must our schedule.  So, we rearranged a little this week and the flow of our day went much better.  Here is our new schedule:

Morning school:
Bible
Science
Math

Lunch break and Recess

Afternoon school:
Read Aloud/Literature Study
History
Language Arts

Notice what still isn't in there...PE/Exercise. Thus you must realize this is still a mom fail.  I'm blaming it on my Hashimotos and some other health issues I've been having.  I had blood work done this past week, so hopefully next week I will have some answers. Until then, I will continue to make it a bigger priority to get it added to our day.  My children are by no means sedentary, but I would like for them to have some structured PE time.

This week in Bible we finished our projects from "A Peaceful Home" and continued "Through the Wardrobe.". It has to be one of my favorite Bible studies! I'm loving it and the children seem to enjoy it too.

In science the kids each did a project on an invention they think they could not live without.  Logan chose technological advances and talked about everything from medical advances, that quite literally saved his life, to video games. Savannah chose indoor plumbing and discussed everywhere we use water inside the house, from dishes to laundry to bathrooms to cleaning.  I agree with her! Lillian chose to make a blueprint for an invention she thinks would help the world. She designed a faster water pump for firefighters.  We also worked more in our lapbook and learned about Patents.

Math was just continued, we are still doing a couple of days of Minecraft math and a couple of days of Saxon math.

In read aloud we are still enjoying Mr. Bowditch.

In History Logan worked on a couple of lessons in from Adam to Us.  The girls and I read more from Samantha.  We also watched a video on the Panama Canal and drew a picture of it.

In Language Arts everyone just continued on in their individual studies.

We also got in some Home Ec time.  We worked on sewing projects for the fair.

Some other happenings this week:

Lillian had Taekwondo.

Logan, Savannah and I had music night at Meme and Papa's.

We got a piano.

Shane had a doctor's appointment.

Logan had a doctor's appointment at Children's Hospital.

Logan and Savannah had formal music lessons.

I found the next sign I'm going to make for our house.

It was a good week overall.

Psalm 28:7

The Lord is my Strength and my Shield; my heart Trusted in Him, and I am Helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I Praise Him.

I'm hoping to have a restful weekend!
