Our Slow Down Plan
So we have made the decision to slow down. Now to make it happen!!
| Gingerbread Nativity |
First- We are focusing on family events and fun. We use to do this all the time, but over the years we replaced family movie night and family board game night with individual outside events. We are making it a priority to add these events back into our calendar.
Second- We are doing away completely with our activities with the local public schools. Several years ago the "Tim Tebow" law was passed in Arkansas. Lots of my friends starting using the school for extracurricular activities. At first we did not, over the years though I began to second guess myself and decided we needed to do the same thing. As it turns out, we should not have. The experience was not all bad, parts were good, but overall I truly believe we were happier being a complete stay at home homeschool family. Guys don't fall into the comparison trap like I did!! You know what is best for your family! Each family has their own individual needs!
Third- We are only going to be going to Taekwondo once a week, unless it is testing week. We are also going to cut the music nights down so we are home by 8.
Fourth- We are going to put Logan in a spina bifida clinic in the spring. This will allow us to see all of his doctors once or twice a year all at the same appointment instead of us going to Little Rock two or three times a month. We can't start this until spring, so we still have several appointments between now and then, but I have high hopes this will make our lives less crazy!
So what does that leave for us to do outside the home and get in some socialization with our peers?
Church activities whenever available
4H Sharp Shooters once a month
4H Nature Seeker's once a month
4H Sew Much Fun once a quarter
4H Food Explorers once a quarter
4H STEM once a quarter
Homeschool Co-op classes art and STEM on Friday mornings
Kid's Club once a week
Taekwondo once a week
Music once a week
Visiting with neighbors and friends, when we can
So I am not worried about anyone not getting enough socialization!! It still may be too much! It seems like a whole lot when typing it out! But it is better for now!
Listen to your momma instincts! God gave us our children as gifts, he also gives us the insight and wisdom to raise them and give them what is best for their individual needs. We (I) just have to learn to listen and be secure in what we know to be best for our families.
