Week 40-The last crazy busy week!

It was a crazy busy week! However we are just almost through with the school year! There's going to be lots of pictures this post!

In school this week:

Bible: We finished our study on The Content Heart.  Each child then picked out a personal devotional to work on for the rest of the school year and into the summer.  Here are their picks:


Math: Everyone is continuing to work through their Math PACE's.

Language Arts: Everyone has books from the library they are reading.  They also each did a couple of lessons in their curriculum.

In other happenings:

Sunday, Monday, and most of Tuesday we were still camping at the lake.  We did lots more fishing and playing games.  Meme and Papa came up and camped with us and gave everyone a fishing trip in the boat. Logan cooked for us. Lillian got to ride a motorcycle with a friend, which I think was the highlight of her trip. Logan also got a ticket from the game warden. On the way home, pulling into our driveway to be exact, I ran the camper into a fence post and messed it up.😒












Tuesday afternoon was 4H B-day.  It stands for bicycle, bait casting, BB guns, and bows(archery).  This was our first year to help with the events.  We followed the info from state and our local administration, we had fun, no one got hurt, and we introduced some attendants to new activities.  Logan placed first in his division for bait casting and BB guns, he placed second in archery.  Savannah placed first in her division in archery and third in BB guns.  Lillian placed second in her division in bicycles and archery. I'm very proud of each of them! I didn't get any pics of the events!




Thursday we attended a 4H sewing workshop. The kids made fish shaped laundry bags.  We had to finish them the next day at home.  They turned out so cute!











Saturday was our 4H Sharp Shooters Fishing Derby.  It rained all morning! However we had a ton of fun, some good sportsmen, and won some wonderful prizes!






This week was also a week of animals, I guess being outside so much we encountered animals we don't see all the time. Here are a few of them:











Our mulberry tree also has mulberries!! This is the first time it has produced since we have lived here!


The weather has been especially cool for us for this time of year, we have really been enjoying it!  A good friend of mine introduced me to "The Fly Lady" this week, so I'm trying to figure that out and have fun learning to keep our house better organized and clean!  I'll be sharing it with my kiddos soon!!

I really can't believe it is September!  This was our 4th week in school. We still are not doing every subject every day.  What we typically try to do is one day we do our morning subjects of Meteorology, Bible, Geography, Art, Math, and Language Arts, and then the next day do our afternoon subjects of PE/Health, History, Spelling for Savannah, Reading for Lillian, Logan's Elective, Writing, and Science.  We do this until we are familiar with our new curriculum and are more independent so I can divide my time up where I am most needed. We do this until after fair week. For some reason we are never able to get full days of school in until after fair.  I use to fight this and get all stressed out about not having full days...now we just roll with it.  We still end the year right where we need to be, and we get to enjoy getting started back in school instead of it being stressful. Summer Week 9

I didn't keep day to day records this week, but here are the highlights. We had church on church days. 😊 We celebrated an Adoption of some friends of ours. They make such a lovely family, and we will continue to pray for their growth and bonding. Lillian did a couple of science experiments.  She made a tornado in a bottle and an ocean in a bottle. Dad had help from the kids this week with the barn. They finished enclosing it.  All they lack now is making the doors. Lillian, Buddy, and I went to the park one morning. We picked a theme for our homeschool year.  It is going to be "Having Fun in Arkansas."  We are planning to try and visit quite a few state parks that we have not visited before. Week 26

Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." I know Jesus is always with me.  I know He will never leave me.  I take great comfort in that knowledge.  However I often forget the last part of that verse, to not be afraid.  Even more often, I forget to not be discouraged.  I have found myself discouraged a lot this week, and even some pretty scary events have happened this week, one of which is not my story to tell.  We are struggling.  I pray we all find our footing, and joy again soon.
