Week 13

Where the old barn once stood.

November snuck up on me! I can't believe we turned the calendars this week.

This week in school:

Logan: He is currently working on Easy Peasy All in One High School. He completed three days of studies in ancient history, literature, bible, math, and health. Logan is also officially finished with is half credit of photography and half credit of psychology.

Savannah: We could not get her computer to run Easy Peasy 7th grade. Therefore, she continued on in her literature and math. She worked on the novels she is writing. She is officially finished with her chemistry elective.

Lillian: We decided to not continue her on Easy Peasy because her computer would not run it either, and I needed my computer.  So, she continued on in her studies as well.  She finished up her cursive writing and reading comprehension.

Creation Science: We finished Unit 4 on how scientist date the Earth.  The differences between young Earth and old Earth thoughts were discussed. We started Unit 5 on Evolution with the fact that there isn't any proof to support this theory.

P/E: We only went to the gym once this week.  We have been feeling pretty under the weather and didn't want to share any germs.

Art: We made Christmas Wreaths with Meme one day. They turned out beautiful!






Mystery of History: We have taken a break from this curriculum and will pick it back up after our sabbath break.

Poetry: We had a great time with our poetry this week.  We had our poetry time on the 31st and sat around the fire and roasted marshmallows and the kids dressed up in their fall costumes.  Our church did not have a fall festival this year, so we used this time to celebrate fall and being a family.

Agri: We lost two calves this week. We are still trying to nurse two to good health. We also transplanted some holy trees this week.


College Prep: Dad took Logan to a college fair for our homeschool group this week. They had a good time.  Logan has plenty of time to decide about his future, we just want him to start thinking about it.



We got our fall co-op class pictures this week. We were so blessed by this experience!

The rest of our time was just spent at home trying to recover from our sickness this week.  Next week is our sabbath week, we have lots of fun planned!

Week 4 in Review

I really can't believe it is September!  This was our 4th week in school. We still are not doing every subject every day.  What we typically try to do is one day we do our morning subjects of Meteorology, Bible, Geography, Art, Math, and Language Arts, and then the next day do our afternoon subjects of PE/Health, History, Spelling for Savannah, Reading for Lillian, Logan's Elective, Writing, and Science.  We do this until we are familiar with our new curriculum and are more independent so I can divide my time up where I am most needed. We do this until after fair week. For some reason we are never able to get full days of school in until after fair.  I use to fight this and get all stressed out about not having full days...now we just roll with it.  We still end the year right where we need to be, and we get to enjoy getting started back in school instead of it being stressful. Summer Week 9

I didn't keep day to day records this week, but here are the highlights. We had church on church days. 😊 We celebrated an Adoption of some friends of ours. They make such a lovely family, and we will continue to pray for their growth and bonding. Lillian did a couple of science experiments.  She made a tornado in a bottle and an ocean in a bottle. Dad had help from the kids this week with the barn. They finished enclosing it.  All they lack now is making the doors. Lillian, Buddy, and I went to the park one morning. We picked a theme for our homeschool year.  It is going to be "Having Fun in Arkansas."  We are planning to try and visit quite a few state parks that we have not visited before. Week 26

Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." I know Jesus is always with me.  I know He will never leave me.  I take great comfort in that knowledge.  However I often forget the last part of that verse, to not be afraid.  Even more often, I forget to not be discouraged.  I have found myself discouraged a lot this week, and even some pretty scary events have happened this week, one of which is not my story to tell.  We are struggling.  I pray we all find our footing, and joy again soon. Last Saturday when we went to pick up the kids from Meme and Papa's, Logan had made knickerbocker glory from his Harry Potter cookbook.  It was delicious! He did an amazing job!
