Week 16
The holidays are upon us! We are very much already in the Christmas spirit, so we started decorating this week!
In school:
Math: Everyone completed 3 lessons this week in math. Lillian is working on memorizing her multiplication facts. Savannah is doing really well in pre-algebra. She is working on solving equations. Logan is working on isolating the variables in Algebra.
Language Arts: Logan is working on a literary analysis of Tom Sawyer. Savannah is working on writing short story summaries. Savannah has also worked very hard on her novels. Lillian is working on multiple syllable words and free writing.
History: We covered three lessons in Mystery of History. We discussed early Chinese dynasties, Moses and the exodus, and the Tabernacle.
Science: We finished Christian Kids Explore Creation Science. We talked about how to be confident in the creation model of the beginning of life, how evolutionist have no proof, and about how they have changed their theory to state that the first life forms crashed into Earth from a chunk of Mars. We then did a science kit on Mars Exploration. We dug up Mars rocks and built a model of the Curiosity Rover.
Read Aloud: We read several chapters of The Westing Game. It is proving to be quite interesting.
HomeEc: Lillian did sewing with Meme this week and worked on her Raggedy Ann doll. Lillian also cooked our food dish for Wednesday night potluck at church.
Music: Logan went to music practice and is working on his next special. We all have been singing Christmas Songs!
In other happenings:
Monday I had a doctor's appointment in another town. The kids stayed with Meme and Papa.
Our homeschool group events were cancelled due to rain. So, we went to the library for awhile one day.
Saturday we had Thanksgiving at an Aunt's house.
I hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving!
