Week 14- Sabbath Week Part 2
Us girls took way more pictures than the boys, so this post will be picture heavy! We explored the Ouachita Mountains!
We took a trip to Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas this week. We traveled though the stunning Ouachita National Forest. I wished I had stopped to take some pictures through the forest, but I didn't. It is so beautiful this time of year.
We stopped by the visitor center first to meet Petit Jean.
We visited the lake.
We checked in our room at Mather Lodge. It was built by the CCC and is absolutely beautiful.
We hiked the mountain to bear cave.
We went through the eye of the needle.
We went to a few different overlooks.
We explored the turtle rocks and hiked the mountain to rock house cave. This is an archeological site, from early native Americans.
We had a picnic lunch and played on a playground.
We then met up with our homeschool group and hiked the mountain to cedar falls. (This one was a booger!)
The last thing we did at Petit Jean was to visit her possible burrial place and visit some ruins of an early college.
Next, Meme came and picked us up and we met up with an Aunt and a couple of cousins. We went to Beaver's Bend State Park in Oklahoma. This is still in the Ouachita Mountains, just across the state border.
We attended a folk festival there at the park and had a great time visiting family.
We had a wonderful time girl bonding! I feel so full of thankfulness and tremendously blessed. I love my family, and am so thankful my new meds are allowing me to have the strength and energy to enjoy life again. Praise God for possibilities!
