Week 17

I'm going to be real honest here, this past week has been sort of a blur.  I have not been feeling really great, but I will try recall as much as I can!  I know we were busy!

Sunday was just a normal church day, we went to church and visited with Grandparents. Sunday evening we completely cleaned out Logan's room and rearranged it. That was a big task!

Monday we started our day with Home Economics time.  We made pumpkin bread and then we put up a few of our Christmas decorations while listening to Christmas music. I love Christmas Music, I could listen to it all year.  Monday afternoon we had math, language, and science.  I started the two oldest on a new math curriculum.  The other just was not working, it's always hard when we change and I really hate to change math curriculum.  However, if it isn't working we aren't going to keep beating our heads against a wall.  Monday evening the kids had horse back riding lessons and music.

Tuesday we had a full day of school.  We finished up our weather unit study and we also decided to put geography back on the shelf for the older two for awhile.  The new curriculum I bought this year does not have anything new to them in it, so they are a little board with it. Lillian and I will be doing some map skills. We worked through the rest of our subjects the rest of the school day.  In the afternoon we got a light on our Nativity Scene then I had a student for tutoring.  Tuesday evening we signed up our children for an Archery program through the Arkansas Game and Fish.  The practices will be once a week at a local public school.  I am really praying it goes well and the one more commitment a week doesn't become too much!

Wednesday we had another full day of school. Bible, Language, Math, History, Science, Spelling, and Dyslexia therapy all got done! We then headed to the library.  The kids all placed in the Thanksgiving coloring contest! They were so excited!  Savannah placed first in her division and Logan and Lillian both placed 2nd in their divisions.  We then went to Kid's Club, Youth, and then church.

Thursday we got a full basket of eggs from our nest boxes!! I think most of the chickens are finally laying!  We also had a good day in school.  We got another full day of subjects in. Thursday evening we tackled the girls room.  We completely cleaned it out and rearranged the entire room, it was such a big job!!

Friday morning we got up and went to my parents farm.  They were going to be out of town and I needed to make sure I knew everyone that needed fed and what they needed to be fed.  After that we went and grabbed a burger and then headed to art class.  I am so thankful I know Mrs. Ruth!  She is such a wonderful person and a talented artist.  I am so thankful she is teaching an art class for us.  This week we learned about zentangle.  She showed us one she made, which was amazing!  Then the kids looked through some magazines to find a main subject and then made tangles from the main drawing. Friday night was movie night!

Saturday we went over to help a friend with some electrical wiring.  Afterwards we grabbed a burger and headed to an Old Fashion Christmas Craft Fair.  We had a good time.  Everything there had to be hand made.  It was really amazing to look at such beautiful things!  We all found some really nice unique gifts for our hard to buy for family members for Christmas.  I also got us all new stockings. Lillian has been wanting to have her picture taken with Santa.  She has been so cute about it.  We don't do Santa, we never have. She knows he isn't real.  We always center our Christmas season around Christ.  However, she really likes the Santa character.  Well, just as we walked in, there was Santa!  This was our official first day of the Advent countdown, although we have done a few other Advent activities this past week.  When we got home, Logan made his history project for this week.  He created Stonehenge with rice crispy treats.

It is now Sunday again and the children and I went to Sunday School while Dad went to do a Gideon presentation at another church.  When he got home we loaded up and went to an Old Fashion Christmas at Home church service that was held at our local museum.  We got to listen to a Bell Choir which was amazing, several singers, a children's choir, a reading of the Christmas Story from Luke, and a neat devotional on the 12 days of Christmas which I had never heard before.  It was a great Advent activity.  Our Advent theme this year is "Old Time Christmas at Home" so I am trying to center our activities around that idea.

I hope you all had a very blessed week!
