Week 30-Mostly Math

We eased back into our school routine this week after our Sabbath holiday without any problems.  Our new math curriculum came in over our break, so we spent quite a bit of time learning how to use it and figuring out if it is going to work.

Monday we started with our read aloud and Bible study.  We are still working our way through the book of Matthew. Even though we have read the stories before, it seems fresh and new to us.  Each child then worked on literature independently as I called each student to me to introduce the new math. That took all the rest of our school time. Monday afternoon was music and horse riding.  Everyone is doing so much better riding.

Tuesday we started the day with read aloud and Bible.  We then did Math with each child working with me. We we're able to each get through math before lunch.  After lunch we all worked on history.  The girls added new pieces to their American girl lapbooks. We are learning about Josephina right now.  Tuesday afternoon Logan was supposed to have trap practice, but it started raining so we stayed home.

Wednesday our morning followed the same schedule: read aloud, bible, new math.  Wednesday after lunch we listened to an audio book then headed to therapy.  I snuck a picture of Logan getting ready for therapy. Then I took the kids to kids club and youth. They haven't had a chance to go in awhile, they had missed it. Then we came home for a bit then went back to church.

Thursday it was still raining, the path to the classroom was flooded.  The driveway to the classroom was flooded. So we had school at the house.  We worked on framing some art work for fair. We listened to more of our audiobook.  We did bible and had independent reading time.  After lunch the kids all had an appointment with our new dentist.  We were nervous, but he was really great. It was comforting when we went in and KLove was playing on the radio. It was even more comforting when school came up, and he and his wife homeschooled their children.  Big plus, no pain with the fillings that were needed.  I'm thankful we made the change. Thursday evening it had stopped raining and we had lots of jonquils blooming. The children have their bird/butterfly garden almost complete.

Friday our art class was cancelled, but we still had therapy.  After therapy I spent the rest of the day cooking for a fundraiser for my husband's class at public school.  Then we took the food to him and had archery practice. After practice we ran a few errands and came home.

I am exceptionally tired today... I'm feeling my hashimotos this week!! The children like all the activities we are doing this year, but they are also missing being at home more.  I have caught several conversations this week about "if we could stay home longer we could..." They are even starting to ask to do some of our family activities that we no longer get to do because of outside commitments. We have had so much rain now that camping is out of the question until further notice. Water is running over the top of the dam at one local lake.  The other lake has flooding in all the campgrounds.  After archery today we drove up to look at some of the flooding.  The river is almost to the bridge, and this is a very high bridge.  The wooded area in the other picture was a campground.

Hopefully the rains will stop now long enough for the water to go down.  This weekend I am hoping for a peaceful and restful weekend. The next few weeks are crazy busy!

For we which have believed do enter into rest...Hebrews 4:3
