Week 34-Back to the Books

We have really enjoyed this past week.  With the exception of some rain a couple of days, the weather has been wonderful.  Spring has finally arrived to our area!!  We also accomplished a lot in our school books this week.  The school year is beginning to wind down.

Sunday our church surprised Logan with a gift.  This gift is too big for words.  It's amazing.  It has opened up new possibilities for our lives.  We are so thankful and blessed to have such a wonderful church family.

Monday we started with a workout video. Then we added in something new to our mornings.  Each child started working on a prayer journal to help them grow in learning how to pray. We had Home Ec morning.  Lillian made blackberry bread, Savannah made a peach cobbler, Logan put on a crock pot of pinto beans, and I made homemade bread. (The girls helped me with the kneading!) I also made new chore charts, so we spent time learning some new chores.  After lunch Lillian worked on learning about insects with her library books.  Logan and Savannah worked on their new biographies. Monday evening Logan had music.

Tuesday we started at the house with a PE video and then prayer journals. We worked on all our subjects.  Logan made a poster with his verse from history.  Savannah did a science project on solid, liquids, and gases.  Lillian did a science project on the life cycle of a butterflies. I also caught Lillian watching workmen out the window. We had to have some work done on the driveway. Tuesday evening Logan had trap practice.

Wednesday we got our PE video and prayer journals done and then headed straight to school. We did postcards for "Send kids the world." The wheelchair repair guy came and worked on Logan's chair.  We got all our subjects done. I started Lillian on the big book for 2nd grade.  I like to work through these books with the kids at the end of the school year, during early elementary, to make sure we are ready for the next grade. The girls picked a new bunch of flowers for the classroom. Wednesday afternoon the kids had kid's club and youth.  Logan and Dad went to church, but the girls and I stayed home.

Thursday was just another typical school day.  PE and prayer journals were done first. We then went down for school.  Logan and Savannah are both almost finished with their science curriculums.  Logan is behind a little in history, I'm not really sure why he is behind, but he is working to correct that.  The girls and I finished Josephina in history and then discussed the Mexican--American war.  We have one more American girl to cover this year. Next week we will meet Kirsten.  Thursday evening Logan had trap practice again. He is trying to figure out which chair he is most comfortable shooting from.

Friday was a busy day!  We got up, fed animals and headed out the door. We had to run some errands, bank, feed store, etc.  We picked up some plants for the garden...I can hardly wait to start planting! Logan had therapy.  We then had a family pizza party to celebrate our accomplishments in school.  I usually sign the kids up for the Pizza Hut reading awards, but I didn't this year, so we just had our own pizza party.  Then the kids played awhile.  I am so thankful that my kids still play.  I'm so thankful they enjoy their childhood and are not trying to grow up too fast. I had to take Lillian to the doctor.  While we were waiting, we watched a video of a tour of the Palmer chocolate factory and got to see how they make their Easter bunnies. Then we flew to archery practice.

Saturday was another busy day, who am I kidding, every day seems filled to the brim these days!  I had a to do list a mile long. I didn't get everything done, but we got a lot done!  We did some yard clean up.  We got the baby chicken pen ready for baby chicks that are supposed to be in this coming week.  Logan and dad went to the lumber store.  The girls and I went grocery shopping.  I prepared my lesson for Sunday school. Logan repotted some plants. Dad and I moved some things to the end of the driveway I made for decorations.  We dyed Easter eggs.  We don't do the Easter Bunny, or Santa or Halloween for that matter.  We have studied Holy Week scriptures all week.  This year, now that the kids are older and they know why we celebrate Easter, we are doing the egg hunt and eating chocolate bunnies.  Just because they think its cute. We know those are just symbols of Spring and new life, and that Easter is all about Jesus's sacrifice for us.  Logan kept photo bombing me with his hand when I was trying to get a picture of their eggs, stinker!

I also wanted to post some random pictures of the week.  Just to help us remember. We have seen lots of signs of Spring this week.  Savannah brought us some tadpoles in, we are trying to keep them alive, their mud puddle was drying up.

I hope you all have a blessed week ahead!
