Week 11- Phew
Extracurricular activities are in full swing now, and all I can do is try and catch my breath! This week has been a race, and next week isn't looking any better. It is that season in our lives.
We did not get as much book schooling done this week as I would have liked. We did get a lot of real life learning accomplished, and I feel that is just as important if not more so! So I'm going to start this post with all the really good extra stuff we did this week.
Monday Lillian had Taekwondo. Music was cancelled, so Logan and Dad took her while Savannah, Meme, and I went to our church's annual community wide Ladies Night Out event. The note left for each of us on our flower vase was "A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it...it just blooms." We had an encouraging night.
There were a few days of deer hunting. Since we process our own meat, there were several days of meat processing. All good lessons in living on a budget, living off the land, biology, and self sufficiency.
Shane and Logan both ended up with appointments on Wednesday afternoon, so Lillian missed Kid's Club. Everyone did make it to church that night for play practice and Bible study.
Thursday we went shopping for winter clothes. We had a good time and we talked a lot about shopping for good clothes on a budget, getting the best for our money, and things like buying a coat that will actually keep us warm not just look pretty.
Friday morning was a Homeschool Co-op Drawing class. We all had fun and learned about drawing still life. Friday afternoon was our first archery practice at a nearby public school. Everyone enjoyed getting started back with archery. We did kinda blow the budget this day and splurged on pizza. We ran into several friends there, which always makes it more fun!
Saturday morning was our 4H meeting. We did archery, .22 rifle shooting, trap shooting, and made a nail art craft of an arrow. Our overnight trip is getting close and they are all excited about it! Saturday afternoon we all went over to a friend's house for a birthday party. It was a great party and no one wished to leave!
Now on to the books...
Bible-We studied through the section on the righteous man in Proverbs People and started the section on liars.
Science- We finished our botany unit this week. We moved all our potted plants inside, learned about non-flowering plants, carnivouros plants, and poisonious plants.
Math- Everyone completed two lessons in math....we have to do better than that!
Read Aloud- We made it through another chapter in Indian Captive. This book is not as well liked as Nathaniel Bowditch!
History- Everyone worked on independent history projects this week. Logan is studying the history of American ships. Savannah is studying the history of dolls. Lillian is doing a project on the early 1900's in America.
Language Arts- Logan finished his language arts program, so he will be starting something new when our next 6 weeks begins. Both girls continued on in their lessons.
That about sums up everything!
