Week 31-A Good Solid Week
We hit the books as much as possible this week. We accomplished a lot in our studies. We had an overall great week. We had a good balance of work and play.
In school this week:
Bible: We are still watching "The Gospels" from Drive Thru History. We have gotten up to the trial of Jesus, so we should be able to finish this study next week.
History: We finished our study on The Cold War. We went back and did a little highlighted focus on The Vietnam War.
Science: We are still enjoying our new science curriculum. We discussed taxonomy a little more in depth and related it to where we live from solar system down to street address vs kingdom down to species. It was a neat little project. Then we did the taxonomy of humans.
Math: This week we put away Saxon Math. We focused on reviewing our math facts and then I got Logan and Savannah up and going on Khan Academy. Hopefully I will get Lillian up and going on Khan Academy next week. We are using the website to make sure we have accomplished all our math goals before we buy a new curriculum and so we can go back and review where we need to.
Language Arts: Everyone continued on in their language arts curriculum this week. We also did a neat little project about grown ups. Each child had to make a list of recommendations that they would give a grown up, 'cause you know us grown ups can be such sticks in the mud! It was fun reading their suggestions.
In other happenings this week:
Monday was music night. Savannah stayed with Dad and worked on her model.
Wednesday trap practice for the Junior team was here so that they could practice longer. They ended up practicing until dark, which meant we missed church potluck and bible study. They are feeling more confident though, so hopefully they can have fun when the tournaments start up for us.
Friday was art co-op class. Everyone had another great day at co-op! They are having so much fun. I got to help in the 2-3 year old class this time. I so miss having babies that age! However, I was quite worn out by the time my hour was up! Thank goodness I had Mom's hour next and was able to relax and catch my breath before gathering mine up and heading home!
Saturday we had a birthday party! Logan and Lillian have birthdays next week. Logan will be 14! Lillian will be 9! Oh my does the time fly! We have exciting plans for next week!
One day Dad took the kids to the shop and they started having a computer hardware class. They are learning about the parts/functions of computers.
Savannah was playing around with my new phone's camera one day and left me this picture. Even though her birthday is a couple months away, she is growing up so fast too! She is turning into such a beautiful young lady.
Lillian has been in a cooking mood. She made smoothies for everyone one day. We also played cooking outside quite a bit, Minli even stopped by her cafe for a snack.
I hope you all had a very blessed week!
