Week 32-An Amazing Week

This week started with an unplanned trip to Little Rock to the orthodontist.  Logan had a band come loose that we had to have fixed. His orthodontist is only in Hot Springs once a month (that was news to us), but it turned out to be a quick trip and an easy fix. The girls stayed with Meme to watch the baby chickens hatch.

In school this week:

Bible: We finished the last three lessons in The Gospels.  We really enjoyed this series.  I will be looking for our final Bible study for this school year after Spring Break.

History: To wrap up our study on the Cold War each child wrote an essay based on Socrates' quote on being a citizen of the whole world. I enjoyed reading their thoughts on being a world citizen, not just an American.  We will start the space race after Spring Break.

Science: We did not do any official science this week.  We did watch baby chickens hatch, which always spurs biology questions.

Language Arts: Everyone continued on in their individual curriculum.

Math: Everyone worked on math facts, review worksheets, and Khan Academy.

Art: We finished discussing and studying our stack of famous paintings.



In other happenings:

Monday night we had trap practice and music night.


Tuesday we had a little surprise birthday party for Meme.

Thursday and Friday were so exciting!!!  Thursday was Logan and Lillian's birthday.  Friday was Meme's birthday.  We surprised the kids with tickets to the Toby Mac's Hits Deep Tour!!  We went up early Thursday and got checked in to our hotel. We ordered room service and chilled until concert time.  I can not express how much fun we had and how awesome this concert was!! It was completely filled and everyone was so nice! Our hotel was close enough for us to walk to the concert! We went a little early and got tshirts and music CDs.  Then we danced and sang the night away! It was a wonderful worship experience.







Lillian got her spaceship built this week too.  She did a great job.


Logan also got his hexbug catapult built.  He did a great job!


Next week is Spring Break.  We have another exciting week planned.  I think spring may be here to stay!


God is so good, all the time! I'm so thankful for the blessings He has given me and my family.

I really can't believe it is September!  This was our 4th week in school. We still are not doing every subject every day.  What we typically try to do is one day we do our morning subjects of Meteorology, Bible, Geography, Art, Math, and Language Arts, and then the next day do our afternoon subjects of PE/Health, History, Spelling for Savannah, Reading for Lillian, Logan's Elective, Writing, and Science.  We do this until we are familiar with our new curriculum and are more independent so I can divide my time up where I am most needed. We do this until after fair week. For some reason we are never able to get full days of school in until after fair.  I use to fight this and get all stressed out about not having full days...now we just roll with it.  We still end the year right where we need to be, and we get to enjoy getting started back in school instead of it being stressful. Summer Week 9

I didn't keep day to day records this week, but here are the highlights. We had church on church days. 😊 We celebrated an Adoption of some friends of ours. They make such a lovely family, and we will continue to pray for their growth and bonding. Lillian did a couple of science experiments.  She made a tornado in a bottle and an ocean in a bottle. Dad had help from the kids this week with the barn. They finished enclosing it.  All they lack now is making the doors. Lillian, Buddy, and I went to the park one morning. We picked a theme for our homeschool year.  It is going to be "Having Fun in Arkansas."  We are planning to try and visit quite a few state parks that we have not visited before. Week 26

Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." I know Jesus is always with me.  I know He will never leave me.  I take great comfort in that knowledge.  However I often forget the last part of that verse, to not be afraid.  Even more often, I forget to not be discouraged.  I have found myself discouraged a lot this week, and even some pretty scary events have happened this week, one of which is not my story to tell.  We are struggling.  I pray we all find our footing, and joy again soon. Last Saturday when we went to pick up the kids from Meme and Papa's, Logan had made knickerbocker glory from his Harry Potter cookbook.  It was delicious! He did an amazing job!
