20/21 School Year-Week 2
This week has been crazy busy. It has also been emotionally draining!
We worked on finalizing our school plans this week. I will be doing post for each kiddo soon so I can document what they will be taking this year. We also did several days of "school." We have not yet completed a full day of subjects, we are still easing into this year.
I will go ahead and post what subjects we will be doing together.
We will be doing bible study together. We will be using our study bibles and going through the New Testament. Each child also will have an individual bible study, Logan is using "Young and Beardless," Savannah will be using "Live Original," Lillian will be using "Draw through Proverbs." At night we will be studying the life of David and Trivia Twist Devotions.
We are going to be doing several other subjects together this year too. We will be doing Write Shop activities together. In history we will be using America's Story 1900- Present together. Geography this year we will be looking at each state in the United States of America. We will also do Chemistry 101 and Logic together if there is time. I over planned this year, I wanted to have some extra stuff on hand just in case our quarantine life has to continue longer than anticipated.
Sunday we had home church and lunch with Meme and Papa.
Monday we are counting as an agri day. We tending to farm animals at home and at the family farm. We then went to visit Meme and Papa at the lake and had lunch with them. We were the only ones at the swim beach, so Lillian swam. Savannah stayed with them so she could get some fishing in. We also got to zoom with our friends Monday afternoon. Lillian tried a beginner French class through Varsity Tutors, however it was not truly a beginner class, so she opted out of it.
Tuesday Dad had a dentist appointment to start the work on repairing some of his teeth. We also had to go pick up medications at the pharmacy. We had another agri day and tended to farm animals on both farms. We went back to the lake for lunch and to pick up Savannah. I also had to work on some paperwork for my volunteer position.
Wednesday we had school. We did Bible, Math, History of the 1800's, and Science. We also made final decisions on activities and electives for the year. I worked on signing Lillian up for her activities and I went over the upcoming activities for the teen group Logan and Savannah are members of. Of course, all these plans are tentative and will depend on the Covid19 pandemic. Wednesday night Logan and Savannah tuned into a zoom meeting with friends for a teen church service.
Thursday we had school again. We did Bible, Math, History of the 1800's, and Reading. We also went and picked up Lillian's new glasses. We got to stop by and visit with some friends for a little while, it was so hot outside, but so worth it! Then we stopped by the park for a minute for a TEACH Co-op back to school event. We just walked through the park and visited with a few people, 6 feet away, and then headed back home.
Friday morning we got up early and headed to the spillway of a nearby lake and did some fishing. We didn't catch much, but we had a great time. It was such a beautiful place to spend the morning.
Saturday we spent the day catching up on housework and yard work. I did a little mowing before it got to hot, then I went inside and did some heavy cleaning. It always amazes me how filthy the house gets on busy weeks! I don't feel like we are home enough to make such messes!! Dad took over the mowing and mowed much of the day. The kids got their rooms cleaned. We then enjoyed a movie night with friends. It was our first experience with buddy watching a movie, but we are absolutely going to do it again. I'm so thankful for those that are willing to think outside of the box so that we can still visit with friends and stay safe during these crazy times.
It was a good week, I feel really blessed when reading over what all we did. I am emotionally tired from dealing with Covid19 and trying to make sure everyone stays safe. Our numbers are still going up, and in our home town, I feel like we are the only ones wearing mask.
