20/21 School Year - Week 4

This week was a little difficult due to scheduling.  I really have got to get us a good schedule made.... maybe soon.

Sunday we had a fish fry at Meme and Papa's and had home church.

Monday:

Today in History we learned about the history of the taps song that is played at military funerals.  It originated during the Civil War, and is a very sad story.  We then moved into Teddy Roosevelt, land agencies, and the rise of the mafia/gangs.

We also got to zoom with our friends, such a blessing to our family!

Logan worked on his geometry and studied for his driver's ed test.

Savannah had American Sign Language class. She worked on her Algebra 1 course. Savannah also made nachos for home ec.

Lillian worked on typing and math.

Tuesday:

I had in-service today from 9-12.

Logan worked on leather working with his Papa.

Savannah had ASL class.

Lillian had sewing class with Meme. They made clothes for Buddy!

Wednesday:

I had in-service from 9-12.

This morning the kids had lots of outdoor physical activity. The temperature was perfect.  They also watched a program from the Texarkana library for homeschool kids.  Lillian loved it, Logan and Savannah only enjoyed taking part in the science experiment.  Lillian made root beer floats!

Thursday:

Dad took Logan and Savannah to work with him today.  Logan worked on geometry and driver's ed. Savannah worked on Algebra 1 and had her ASL class.

Today was Lillian's first activity with her new Wild and Free group.  I took her to Lake Ouachita State park.  It was a beautiful day! Perfect weather for a field trip. We visited the Three Sisters Springs swimming area, and got to see the three streams. That water was cold!!

Friday:

It is field trip Friday!

We started out at Lake Catherine State Park. We were supper excited to find a completely paved hiking trail, so of course we had to walk it!

We had a quick stop at the orthodontist for Logan, he has his retainer! We are so glad to be on this last part of the braces ordeal! Shifu went with us for the first time. He is a chair hog!

We then jumped on The Civil War Camden Excursion trail and visited 3 sites of battlegrounds.  This wraps up our study of The Civil War. I'm glad, it's such a heart wrenching time period in our history!

We also came across this little WWII site. During the war it was used to train pilots, now it is part of a college. It is used to teach airplane mechanics.

We got to picnic for lunch and supper at the various parks. It was a long but great day!

Saturday:

Logan made this delicious smelling cake from a new recipe.

The rest of Saturday was spent on random chores and resting.

It was really a great week through all the organized chaos!

Here are some random pics from the week.
