Spotlight on Lillian!

Lillian is 7 years old and in the 2nd grade.
She is very beautiful and smart and so funny.
She is the family "class clown."  She is
always playing jokes, or doing something
silly to make someone laugh, she likes to
make sure everyone is happy. She brings
such joy to our family! She has some
difficulties in some areas of her school work,
but she is working very hard on them and
making great progress at overcoming them.

Here is a look at her 2nd grade curriculum.

Language Arts: Lillian is using two different Language Arts programs this year. She uses Language Arts and Literature by The Good and the Beautiful in the mornings.  This course is mostly phonics and reading, she also gets to examine fine art paintings.  The other program she uses in the afternoons is called English Lessons Through Literature.  This program focuses on sentence structure, parts of speech, and vocabulary through the great works of literature.  She is enjoying them both.

Penmanship: She is using Penmanship for Christian Writing Grade 2 from Rod and Staff.  It is simple, and easy for her to do.

Math: Lillian is using Math Lessons for a Living Education Level 2 from Master Books.  So far she is liking it and doing well. I haven't decided if I like this curriculum or not. It did not work for her older sister, and I'm not sure she is remembering everything we have worked on so far this year, but we are going to keep going with it for now.

History:  I did not get a picture of her history in this photo, but she is doing the American Girl History with her sister.  So far we are all liking this American History Curriculum.

Science: Lillian is using Christian Kids Explore Earth and Space.  I have used this curriculum in the past with her brother and sister.  I really like the Christian Kids Explore Science Series.  Lillian has really enjoyed doing this curriculum this year.

Reading:  Lillian also has a reading book from Rod and Staff and she has many little readers she reads from each day.

Lillian also participates in some subjects we do together.


Lillian chose to raise Dutch Rabbits for her
Agri Science project this year.

These bunnies are so cute!  She is doing a
great job raising them too.






Lillian really enjoys art.  She is a very good artist, she draws all the time.  She carries a sketch pad around with her most of the time.

For extracurricular activities this year Lillian is enjoying our church youth group activities.  She also has joined an after school youth program at another church that starts this week. She is also in 4H.  She is a member of two groups right now and also participates in some workshops.

 She really enjoys cooking.  She likes making cookies and monkey bread the best, but she is willing to help cook anything you will let her try!

Lillian loves to be outside. She would much rather be outside playing instead of being inside, unless a movie is playing. This child has a great love of movies!  We are very blessed by Lillian, she is a wonderful daughter!
