Summer Week 8

This week did not go as planned at all!  It ended up being a good week though.

We had another baby this week.


Sunday was church and eating at Grandparent's

Monday the girls went and stayed at Meme and Papa's.  Shane had to go tie up some work stuff. I took Logan to Hot Springs for an appointment.  The appointment was pretty quick.  We then did some window shopping at all the pet stores, then we went out to eat at On the Boarder.  It was fun getting to hang out with my son! Monday night was music night.

Tuesday was Papa's birthday.  We took dessert and went to have supper with him. It was a good evening.



We also had some major flooding on Tuesday.  I've never seen flooding like this before!




Wednesday our plans were cancelled because of the flooding.  The library had damage from flooding.  I also postponed our meeting with Logan's case worker.  We still had potluck and Bible study at church.

Thursday we stayed home.

Friday the kids had friends over all day.  Once they left, I took Savannah clothes shopping.  We had fun together!

Saturday we worked on laundry and housecleaning.  Then we went with Dad boot shopping. We had to cancel our 4H meeting.  We were supposed to go snorkeling on the river, but due to the flooding, the water was too high, fast, and muddy.  We will have to try again one day.

We did manage to squeeze in a couple of summer school activities this week.  Nothing really exciting, we did some math and language arts.  The rest of our new textbooks came in, so we looked through them some. I also finalized plans for the upcoming year for Savannah and Lillian.

We have only two more weeks of summer vacation!!

Week 4 in Review

I really can't believe it is September!  This was our 4th week in school. We still are not doing every subject every day.  What we typically try to do is one day we do our morning subjects of Meteorology, Bible, Geography, Art, Math, and Language Arts, and then the next day do our afternoon subjects of PE/Health, History, Spelling for Savannah, Reading for Lillian, Logan's Elective, Writing, and Science.  We do this until we are familiar with our new curriculum and are more independent so I can divide my time up where I am most needed. We do this until after fair week. For some reason we are never able to get full days of school in until after fair.  I use to fight this and get all stressed out about not having full days...now we just roll with it.  We still end the year right where we need to be, and we get to enjoy getting started back in school instead of it being stressful. Summer Week 9

I didn't keep day to day records this week, but here are the highlights. We had church on church days. 😊 We celebrated an Adoption of some friends of ours. They make such a lovely family, and we will continue to pray for their growth and bonding. Lillian did a couple of science experiments.  She made a tornado in a bottle and an ocean in a bottle. Dad had help from the kids this week with the barn. They finished enclosing it.  All they lack now is making the doors. Lillian, Buddy, and I went to the park one morning. We picked a theme for our homeschool year.  It is going to be "Having Fun in Arkansas."  We are planning to try and visit quite a few state parks that we have not visited before. Week 26

Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." I know Jesus is always with me.  I know He will never leave me.  I take great comfort in that knowledge.  However I often forget the last part of that verse, to not be afraid.  Even more often, I forget to not be discouraged.  I have found myself discouraged a lot this week, and even some pretty scary events have happened this week, one of which is not my story to tell.  We are struggling.  I pray we all find our footing, and joy again soon. Last Saturday when we went to pick up the kids from Meme and Papa's, Logan had made knickerbocker glory from his Harry Potter cookbook.  It was delicious! He did an amazing job!
